WELCOME, KINDERGARTEN PARENTS!
Kindergarten is an exciting time for children and parents alike! If you reside in the Naches Valley School District and your child will be 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2007, he or she is elligible to attend the Naches Valley Primary School during the 2007-2008 school year.
Enrollment packets for the 2007-2008 school year are available starting April 9, 2007 in the Primary School office during the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm. Parents are required to complete the forms in the enrollment packet and return the packet along with the child's birth certificate and up-to-date immunization records. (Please see the table below for kindergarten immunization requirements.)
Our Kindergarten Orientation Night will be held May 3, 2007 at 6:30pm in the Multipurpose room at the Primary School. Bring your child and your completed enrollment packet (if you have not already returned it to the office) and learn about Kindergarten in 2007-2008!
If you miss the Orientation Night, we will have a Registration Night on August 21, 2007. During Registration, you can complete any paperwork that has not already been done and turned in to the office. Our school nurse will be available so that your child can have their required hearing and vision screening done at that time, as well as their shot records checked to be sure that immunizations are up to date.
Our regular "Kindergarten Screening" is being held August 28 and 29, during the first two days of school. This screening gives the Kindergarten teachers the opportunity to meet your child, do some simple skills testing and begin the placement process. When you bring your child to Kindergarten Screening, please be sure they are dressed in comfortable clothing, well-rested and ready to "play games and have fun". Be sure you tell your child prior to the screening that they will meet some grownup friends (our teachers) and do some activities with them. We've had many children come to screening and not want to participate because they are "not allowed to talk to strangers"!
If you've completed a registration packet but have not signed up for Kindergarten Screening, or if you simply have questions about Kindergarten, please call the Primary School office at 966-5050 and speak to Mrs. Charlet.

Immunizations required before a child can begin Kindergarten:
| DTaP/DTP/DT/Td | 4 doses provided the last dose is given on or after the 4th birthday. |
| POLIO | 3 doses provided the last dose is given on or after the 4th birthday. |
| MMR | 2 doses. 1st dose given on or after the 1st birthday, 2nd dose at lease 28 days later. |
| HepB | 3 doses. |
| Varicella (chicken pox) | Vaccine or parent verification of disease. |
